چکیده
F igure 1. Effect of pyruvate kinase (c) on rate of pyruvate formation from PEP and phosphatase. The rate of NADH oxidation was followed by measuring 4̂340nm in a solution containing, in DaO at 15 °C: sodium maleate (40 nM, pD 6.0), EDTA (0.1 ium), MgCl2 (1 him), KC1 (50 him), NADH (0.12 him) , NAD+ (50 jim), acid phosphatase (Sigma IV, 150 jig), L-LDH (25 pg), and PEP (1 him) added last. Pyruvate (0.1 ium) was added as noted by the arrow to a duplicate of (a) to show that LDH was fully active. Pyruvate kinase (25 pg) was present in c only.

Chemistry of proton abstraction by glycolytic enzymes (aldolase, isomerases and pyruvate kinase).
Intermediates have been synthesized that are rapidly utilized by triose phosphate isomerase, yeast aldolase and pyruvate kinase. In each case the compounds have the properties of an enol expected for a stepwise proton transfer mechanism. Apparently the apparatus required for doing this chemistry is sufficiently unique for a large measure of structural homology to have been imposed upon the enzy...

Background & Aim: Hexokinase and pyruvate kinase are two regulatory enzymes of glycolytic pathway in erythrocytes. Increasing evidence suggests that cigarette smoking which produces free radicals and oxidative stress can cause damage to body macromolecules such as proteins and enzymes. The aim of the present study was to investigate the susceptibility of key enzymes of erythrocytes glycolyt...
متن کاملControl of glycolytic enzyme synthesis in yeast by products of the hexokinase reaction.
Addition of 2-deoxyglucose to a culture of the hybrid yeast Saccharomyces fragilis X Saccharomyces dobzhanskii causes 2to 200-fold increase in the differential rate of synthesis of all glycolytic enzymes except alcohol dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.1). For most enzymes, the stimulation in the rate of synthesis occurs with a delay. The greatest stimulation is observed in the case of glyceraldehyde39 d...
متن کاملA kinetic study of glycolytic enzyme synthesis in yeast.
The kinetics of induced synthesis of glycolytic enzymes of the hybrid yeast Saccharomyces fragilis X Saccharomyces dobzhansizii in response to the addition of glucose or galactose has been studied in a basal medium containing peptone, acetate, and yeast extract. Glucose and galactose bring about a 3to loo-fold increase in specific activity of various glycolytic enzymes during a ‘Thour period. T...
متن کاملTranscriptional regulation of genes encoding glycolytic enzymes by hypoxia-inducible factor 1.
Hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1) activates erythropoietin gene transcription in Hep3B cells subjected to hypoxia. HIF-1 activity is also induced by hypoxia in non-erythropoietin-producing cells, suggesting a more general regulatory role. We now report that RNAs encoding the glycolytic enzymes aldolase A (ALDA), phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1), and pyruvate kinase M were induced by exposure o...
